The sun is shining (finally) and i'm looking forward to the weekend (already) and having a few days off to celebrate my Mum's birthday. Happy Tuesday peeps xo
“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
To here pretty please. It's called 'The Farm at Cape Kidnappers'(of course it is!) and it's at Hawke's Bay inNew Zealand. Clearly too divine for words and having just checked out their rates I can assure you it's got a price ticket to match. Another one to add to "the list".
I've developed a bit of a thing for skulls of late. I'm tracing this obsession back to the Alexander McQueen skull scarf from a few seasons ago. In any case, I kind of like them - in a weird kind of way. Came across this one of late (can't remember where - sorry) but i love it and want to frame it big time.
Doing my photography course tomorrow and am really looking forward to understanding my camera a bit better. I can't believe I've had it almost a year and I still can't really use it properly. I want to be able to take some great shots at my Mum's 70th birthday (which is in 2 weeks) - nothing like a deadline to get you motivated!
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Today I got an email from a good friend of mine. It was one to send around which can be a little hit or mis but this one struck a chord. Hope it does with you too xx
"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."
{ read more about this house, or buy (!!) it here }
Of course it's in the Hamptons. Where else! Still, if I was buying in the hamptons I'd be going for the more traditional Hamptons style house with shingles, plenty of perfectly manicured lawn and a rose garden.
I'm a lover of blue and white and I keep my colour palette fairly limited at home to this combo however seeing these pictures I was reminded how great colour is and the opportunity to use many of the great fabrics I have collected ALL TOGHETHER. Love it and can't wait to have a room of colour in our new country house.
{ some pretty images I've found in my travels. view these & more here }
....and I'm afraid that it's been my blogging. The last couple of weeks have been crazy busy and a little too stressful for my liking and it feels like there are not enough hours in the day. Bring on Christmas so we can have a nice little relax and some "time out".....
{ i love everything about this room although let's face it India Hicks never really gets it wrong! }
{ love the fireplace, love the colour palette and the light coming through those divine windows }
{ it's all about the artwork. I could leave the cabinet and whatever that monstrosity is in the left corner }
{ i'm keeping this in the 'ideas file' for what to do on our new mantel piece above the fireplace. Love the zebra mirror too. }
I've finally made it through the latest online version of Lonny and as usual there was plenty of inspiration (read "'cool ideas to steal). Here's a few of my fave's. All images from Lonnymag.com
I've never been a massive Kate Moss fan...... until now. I've seen some of the wedding photo's before but came across these today and was totally blown away. It's like an enchanted fairytale. And with Mario Testino capturing the memories from the day it's even more magical. Love, love, love x
Love the black and white colour combo - especially with a touch of pink! The 1st picture especially makes me happy. And I guess it's no coincedence that stripes feature heavily in all 3. L*O*V*E.
Someone obviously didn't tell the weather man that it's the first day of spring because it's looking pretty overcast and chilly outside. However, I'm not going to let that dampen my spirits. Am so excited to welcome Spring..... it feels like it's been a looooong winter and I'm definately ready for some sunshine. Bring it on.
The hubby is away with the boys watching rugby for the weekend so i'm home alone. Have cleaned the house so I can relax and enjoy the weekend. I'll be spending most of it at the computer as I've got work coming out my ears but with 'Sex in the City' in the background and a candle burning it's not so bad!
Found this too cute illustration in my online travels this week. Can't remember where I found it or who it's by... my apologies but please enjoy nonetheless. Happy Friday xox
Over a week since my last blog post which makes me feel very guilty.... It's been a particularly busy week. Nevermind. We're back on track. Happy Thursday - looking forward to a weekend at our little cottage.
I came across this today and immediately fell in love. It's got a good feel and looking at it just makes me happy. I think i'm going to have to re-create something similar when we move into our new house xox
i'm about to embark on some super healthy eating. Or at least i'm going to try..... I came across these images this morning and felt inspired. Looking forward to feeling full of energy after all these super foods xox
This has been one of the longest, hardest, dreariest weeks I have had in a while. When I got up this morning I said to my hubby.... "it's groundhog day".... He laughed. I wasn't joking.
But, it got me thinking, what exactly is 'Groundhog Day'. So I googled it. There are a few meanings but this is the one I was looking for:
The 1993 comedy movie 'Groundhog Day'. On this day Bill Murrayis forced to relive the day over and over again until he can learn to give up his selfishness and become a better person. In popular culture, the phrase "Groundhog Day" has come to represent going through a phenomenon over and over until one spiritually transcends it.
Or at least I'd like to.... and this is where you can find me. I'll be inside making a cup of tea or possibly having a little nap.... dreaming that all my troubles have disappeared.
